Linear GitHub Panel handles a small amount of user data to show Linear issue cards on GitHub pull request pages and to verify trial or paid access. It does not collect analytics or product telemetry. It does not sell or use data for advertising. The product website is lineargithubpanel.com.
What we handle
- Authentication information you provide: your Linear Personal API Key, and after purchase a Creem License Key plus activation details.
-
Website content on GitHub pull request pages: the PR title, description,
and branch name, processed locally in your browser to find identifiers such as
ENG-482. -
Google account identifier for the trial: after you click
Start free trial, Chrome issues a short-lived OpenID access token. The
extension sends that token to the billing Worker. The Worker verifies it with Google and
stores only a SHA-256 hash of the stable Google user id (
sub). We do not request, receive, or store your email address. -
Anonymous install ID: a random UUID stored in
chrome.storage.localand sent with checkout and license requests so a license can be bound to this browser. - Payment details: processed by Creem, our merchant of record, under Creem's privacy policy. We never receive your full card number.
Linear API Keys, GitHub page content, and Linear issue bodies never pass through the billing Worker.
Local storage
-
Your Linear Personal API Key is stored in
chrome.storage.local. Chrome removes it when you uninstall the extension. -
chrome.storage.localdoes not provide application-level encryption at rest. Malware or anyone with access to your operating-system profile may be able to read it. - The extension tells its GitHub content script only whether a key is configured. It never injects the key into the GitHub page.
-
The extension stores the anonymous install ID and—after activation—the Creem License Key
and validation details in
chrome.storage.local. - The extension does not store the Google access token or any account email.
Network requests
- Issue and viewer requests are sent only to
https://api.linear.app/graphql. - Those requests include your Linear API Key and issue identifiers found on the current GitHub pull request.
-
Checkout requests send the selected plan and anonymous install ID to
https://billing.lineargithubpanel.com. License activation and validation send the Creem License Key and install or instance ID to that Worker, which forwards them to Creem. - Trial requests, only after you click Start free trial, send a short-lived Google OpenID access token to the Worker. The Worker verifies it with Google and persists only a hash of the Google user id.
- Creem processes payment details and checkout email under its own privacy policy. Cloudflare may process standard request metadata such as IP address as infrastructure provider.
Data shown on GitHub
The panel renders issue titles, status, priority, estimate, project, and assignee information into the GitHub page DOM. GitHub page scripts and other browser extensions with access to that page may technically read the information after it is displayed.
How we use this data (Limited Use)
We use Chrome Identity and the data described above only to provide and maintain the extension's single purpose: displaying read-only Linear issue context on GitHub pull request pages, including one-time trial entitlement and paid license checks.
- We do not sell user data.
- We do not use or transfer user data for personalized, retargeted, or interest-based advertising.
- We transfer data only when necessary to provide that single purpose (Linear API, Google token verification, Creem checkout/license), to comply with law, for security investigations, or as part of a merger or sale of the product.
- Humans do not read your Linear issues, API keys, or Google tokens. Support staff may read information you send to [email protected] if you ask for help.
Data removal
- Select Clear key on the extension settings page to remove your Linear API Key.
- Select Deactivate this device to remove the current Creem license activation from this browser. That does not cancel a paid subscription.
- Uninstalling the extension removes local configuration. Deactivate first if you want to free an activation slot.
- To delete the hashed Google user id stored for trial enforcement, email [email protected] from or identifying the Chrome/Google account you used for the trial. We delete that hashed record from the trial store within 30 days. Deleting it may allow a new trial on that account.
